Bigs & Littles NYC is an organization that matches New York City youth ages 7-17 with an adult mentor who serves as an adviser and role model. I joined Bigs & Littles NYC as a 'Big Brother' in September 2018, and I have seen first-hand the powerful impact that the organization has on both its mentees and their surrounding community. I'm not only running the 5K this year to support the organization, but also to express my gratitude for the tremendous experience that Bigs & Littles NYC has provided me with. Over a year ago, I was matched with a charismatic, intelligent, and creative 14-year old named Jamir, and I've had the pleasure of developing a great relationship with him as both a mentor and friend. Watching Jamir develop over the past year has been a testament to the efforts of the organization and the impact that it has on its many members and their families. Donations gathered from this event will directly benefit our Littles by supporting family health & wellness initiatives, education and college readiness programming, and general supplementation of the organization's ongoing operating costs.
